Textile artwork

The wee embroidered robots started with an experimental piece on vinyl painted card and progressed to a quilt.

I started with a monoprint taken from my drawings, which I then coloured using markings I could translate to stitch. Some of these were inspired by the Gond and Bhil Indian tribal art traditions.

I then photocopied my monoprint piece onto fabric and proceeded to embroider over the designs.

Finally I quilted the design and added a border and some more knots.

Handmade quilt

The finished quilt hanging on display. Th artwork is opposite. The tunic was made by another UAL student, Maria.
